For the past month, it's felt like Summer here in Sacramento, California. I've been walking to my local library branch and spending afternoons reading on the patio while the bulldogs soak up the sunshine. It's nice to change things up and enjoy the slower pace Summer brings. Last night, after seeing the wonderfully funny and smile-inducing film, The Phoenician Scheme, I had a brain wave. Why not put our weekly #ContentChat livestream into Summer Camp mode for the next couple months? I've always wanted to host an IRL #ContentChat Summer Camp where I act as the camp counselor for a focused group of content marketers who want to fine-tune their content strategies. But this Summer is not the time for that. BUT. It IS the perfect time to change up our Summer Mondays. So, from now until it starts feeling like Fall — or my return from CEX in August — instead of our usual lunchtime chat with a content marketer, I'll be serving up some smaller bites of inspiration — some content strategy tapas if you will. Each week, I’ll share:

Take my content scalability assessment! As debuted at last week's AMA content governance workshop, there's a whole new edition of my content scalability assessment available. While the version that's going into my book has closed, I'm making a new version available as an ongoing tool to help content marketers benchmark and fine tune how they scale their content strategy and its execution. Take the assessment and let me know what you scored. Content Marketing + Related Jobs

Four weeks ago tomorrow, my partner brought home a one-week old kitten that had been found abandoned at the elementary school where he is a school nurse. When we couldn't find him a placement with any local rescues, he brought the little one home to me. The kitten was so small you could close your palm around him, and his eyes were sealed shut. But man, could the little fluff ball scream! I've never raised a kitten (though a childhood kitten had kittens, but Flossie did all that hard work...
One of the recurring themes I heard at MAICON last week was presented in Paul Roetzer's opening remarks: “Within 1–2 years, AI model advancements and agent capabilities will force a radical transformation of talent, teams, and organizational structures. Leaders face conflicting pressures to take a responsible, human-centered approach to AI adoption, while leveraging AI for near-term gains in efficiency, productivity, creativity, and profitability.” While many organizations have focused on the...
As a content marketer, I absolutely NEVER feel like my team and our resources is enough to do what has to be done. So how does a nonprofit organization like Slow Food USA stay on message and create a vibrant community across hundreds of local chapters, and pull together an event like the recent Terre Madres America with only two staff members, neither of whom is a content person? That was the biggest question on my mind as I volunteered at the content-rich, exceptionally inspiring event a...
